Strikeforce Eliminated In First Round |
On Friday June 20th the NY Strikeforce were matched up against the DE Destroyers for the first round for the southern division play-offs. The Strikeforce fell short in overtime 134-130 to the DE Destroyers who advanced to the 2nd round to face the MD Bayraiders on Saturday June 21st. "Our team had every opportunity to win this game, but when you put five individuals against a team, you definitely assure yourself as not being the victor", says Gloria D. Hill, Director of Basketball Operations.
The NY Strikeforce had a twenty plus lead on the Destroyers on two separate occasions during the game, which led the Strikeforce to believe they had the game in the bag. But as well all know in the NPBL system no lead no matter what the margin is a safe, sure-fire guarantee of a victory. What appeared to have been a turning point for the Strikeforce was Terrell Taylor's hitting a three pointer at the end of regulation to tie the score 123-123."He must have had a flashback from his days of playing at Creighton University", says Coach Hill. "I would like to congratulate Dallas Comegy's and his players on their victory, as they deserved to win because they played as a team", says Coach Hill. Carl Lee led all scores for the Strikeforce with 32 pts, 7 rebs, 1 blk, 1 asst, 1 stl. Fahreed Cheathm led all scores for the Destroyers with 38 pts.
As the DE Destroyers advance to take on the MD Bayraiders on Saturday June 21st, the NY Strikeforce will be left with the reminder of what could have been... We would like to thank the fans, friends and family that came out to support us in our inaugural season in Rockland County, and look forward to bigger and better things when we return for the 2009 season.

Strikeforce Settle for #2 |
The NY Strikeforce travelled down to Woodlawn High School in Gwynn Oak MD to take on the Maryland Bayraiders. The Bayraiders pretty much held and contained the ball through the majority of the contest with a nine point lead. The Strikeforce battled back and tied in the third quarter 71-71. The Strikeforce the typical second half team had moment on their side at that point as they rallied to come from behind. Unfortunately they were not able to maintain their composure to take a lead and secure a victory, however they battled to the very end with the final score being 124-120. "If there were more time this could have been a different outcome", says Coach Hill. The Bayraiders are not accustomed to uptempo style play, and the majority of the time they held the ball to run down the clock as much as possible to maintain and secure their lead. "I am still proud of my team, they played their hearts out, and I have no complaints on how they handled themselves professionally on the court", says Gloria D. Hill Director of Basketball Operations. The NY Strikeforce will be on the road again on Saturday May 31st when they take on the Elmira Bulldogs, this will be the third meeting between these two teams with that series tied 1-1. Strikeforce fans are encouraged to come out and support if they can, the City of Elmira and Chemung County have made it possible for free admission to this contest on May 31st. The NY Strikeforce will be back in action at Albertus Magnus H.S. on June 8th at 3pm when they take on their county rivals the WC Monarchs.

Strikeforce Heading To The Bay! |
The NY Strikeforce will be heading down to Woodlawn High School in Gwynn Oaks Maryland to take on the Maryland Bayraiders on Saturday May 24th. This is going to a test of wills of who will take the top spot in the southern division of the NPBL. Both teams are tied with a 6-3 record so this is a QUEST FOR FIRST, and home court advantage in the play off series coming up in June. "My guys have worked their hearts out in practice, and we are fully aware of what we are up against, it's not just one or two players we have to focus on the entire team for 48 minutes", says Coach Hill. The Strikeforce are looking to regroup after being majorly defeated by a De Destroyers team that truly came to play on a night when the Strikeforce were under-manned. "We will not have Prince Jackson as we travel to Maryland due to a knee injury, but we are confident with our well rounded group of guys we can remain competitive enough to keep up the pace with the Bayraiders", says Coach Hill. The NY Strikeforce will be back in action at Albertus Magnus H.S. on Sunday June 8th to play their cross county rivals the WC Monarchs. The last meeting between this team was a fight to the finish with the final score being 132-130 to the NY Strikeforce.
